The VTS101 and VTC101 vehicle scales from Mettler Toledo are the latest editions to the company’s vehicle scale portfolio. The scales incorporate the newly released POWERCELL PDX cell network. Model VTS101 consists of a steel deck supported by orthotropic ribs that are completely sealed from the elements by automated continuous welds. The ribs are shaped to distribute concentrated loads better than I-beam designs, leading to a longer life of the scale, according to the company. The VTC101 scale is a concrete and steel composite structure that combines a concrete driving surface with a robust orthotropic understructure. The composite design eliminates a common cause of premature deck failure: voids in the deck that occur when pouring concrete around I-beam flanges and sharp corners. The VTC101 and VTS101 use the POWERCELL PDX load cell network that eliminates the typical maintenance, repair costs and downtime related to conventional vehicle scales, notes Mettler Toledo. Additionally, the load cell includes predictive diagnostics to keep users continuously informed of their scale’s performance.
