Carrier Home Builders Inc. Relies on Powerscreen Warrior

WarriorServiceability, performance, flexibility and economy of operation are the primary reasons Carrier Home Builders, Inc. purchased the first Powerscreen Warrior 1400X sold in the United States.

The company is working in topsoil and sand/gravel applications for a project in Farmington, Conn., and is also operating a Powerscreen1000 Maxtrak cone crusher to make stone. The distributor is Powerscreen New England.

The Warrior 1400X was first introduced to the European market in 2012.

Carrier Home Builders first tested a Powerscreen Warrior 800 screen before purchasing the Warrior 1400X. Vice President Steve Carrier said, “We couldn’t believe what the little machine was capable of doing. However, once we saw the Warrior 1400X we made the difficult decision to buy the bigger machine with the higher capacity. There were various impressive aspects of the machine, primarily how well it performed as a finishing screen and not just as a scalping screen. We were blown away with its performance in top soil, and we liked the ground clearance.”

Serviceability features include a screen box “raise” function and the unique ability to raise the collection conveyor. The standard spec machine is built with all parts to easily convert from two- to three-way split on site.

“It was easy to set up and work on; there was little need for wrenches, and screen changing was easy,” Carrier said. “Another key benefit for us was that we could load the machine from the back with a loader or fold the sides down to load with an excavator from the sides.”

Reduced engine running speed and advanced hydraulics reduce fuel consumption compared to the previous model. The Warrior 1400X can be fitted with either a Tier 3/Stage III A Caterpillar C4.4 ATAAC – 4-cylinder diesel engine developing 90 kW (120 hp) at 1800 rpm, or a 4-cylinder Tier 4i/Stage IIIB Caterpillar C4.4 developing 82 kW (110 hp) at 1800 rpm.

Carrier Home Builders Inc. is a family run business with 12 employees and more than 40 years of construction industry experience. Carrier is a six-year repeat customer of Powerscreen New England and has rented many Powerscreen machines.

“It is important to have an in-state dealer,” Carrier said. “Powerscreen New England is only a phone call away. They have a service hub close by and parts in stock when we need them. We have worked with Graham Wylie for five years now and are assured by his product knowledge and industry experience.”

The Powerscreen 1000 Maxtrak features the Automax cone crusher with hydraulic setting, tramp release and unblocking system. It produces high-quality aggregate and sub-base materials with very low fuel consumption.
