InnerWill Leadership Institute Adds Board Members

The InnerWill Leadership Institute announced that three new members will be joining its board of directors: Greg McCann, Jack Mitchell and Katy Wilder Schaaf, Ph.D.

Based in Richmond, Va., the InnerWill Leadership Institute is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to transforming individuals, organizations and families through values-based leadership. Born out of Luck Companies, InnerWill works with organizations to develop leadership in every person, at every level and provides customized programming to fit each client’s needs and ensure positive and measurable impacts on everything from employee engagement to building trust.

InnerWill’s board of directors helps support the organization’s vision, mission and strategic goals.

“We are thrilled to welcome these new members to our board and look forward to incorporating their unique expertise,” said Charlie Luck IV, founder and chairman of the board of InnerWill, and president and CEO of Luck Companies. “I am confident that these new additions to the team will propel us forward as an organization and allow us to grow our impact through values-based leadership.”

Greg McCann is the principal of McCann & Associates and works as a consultant, coach, presenter, author, and professor to develop leaders in family enterprises. The emphasis of his work is on developing leaders to have increased capacity, greater agility, and stronger values alignment, which are all necessary to lead in the complexity of today’s world. McCann led the efforts at Stetson University to both create the nation’s first major in family enterprise and edesign the university’s EMBA around leadership, and in his consulting to reframe succession toward a greater leadership focus.

Jack Mitchell is chairman of Mitchell Stores, a three-generation family business that operates men’s and women’s specialty stores in Connecticut, New York, California, Washington and Oregon. Under his leadership, the Mitchell Stores have become well known for employee engagement and longevity and providing exceptional customer service and high-quality merchandise. In 2003, he launched a second career as an author and speaker, and he has traveled widely to engage audiences with Hug Your Customers/ Hug Your People/Selling the Hug Your Customers Way presentations. In April 2005, INC Magazine listed Mitchell as one of the “26 Entrepreneurs We Love.”

Katy Wilder Schaaf, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and works alongside her own family using governance to support the vision and values of E. Ritter & Co., a fifth-generation family business founded in 1886. She speaks nationally about her work in family business and has written about effective family councils and next generation development in Family Business Magazine, where she serves on the advisory board. Also, she is director of the Family Business Forum at Virginia Commonwealth University.
