Shelly Co. Opens New Quarry Tunnel

A two-year project at the Shelly Co.'s limestone quarry in Ostrander, Ohio, has been successfully completed. The new tunnel provides a safe access way for Shelly’s haul trucks transporting aggregates to its processing plant.

LN091218 ShellyTunnelShelly representatives collaborated with local government officials and regulatory departments on every step of the process.

Shelly hosted a small ceremony to recognize the tunnel and show appreciation for everyone’s efforts. There were around 30 people in attendance including local county officials and community members.

In addition there was representation from Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ohio Aggregates and Industrial Minerals Association.

“Our team at the Shelly Co. is committed to providing superior quality aggregate while maintaining community partnership,” said Shelly Aggregates Operations Manager Mike Matoszkia. “This tunnel project is one more example of that commitment.”

Shelly has been a longtime member of the Ostrander community and continues to support the community. It hosts several school visits at its quarry and community events at its wildlife habitat site.

Shelly – a CRH company – is Ohio’s leading limestone, concrete and asphalt paving company with more than 90 locations and 1,600 employees located in 81 of 88 counties in the state.
