The American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) is adding a key player to its team with the hiring of industry veteran Una Connolly as vice president of safety and environmental compliance.
Connolly, who has background in science and over a decade of experience in the transportation construction arena, previously worked as associate vice president of occupational and environmental health at the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA).
At ARTBA, she will be responsible for implementation of programs under the association’s safety training contract with the Federal Highway Administration; management of the activities of the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse; and development of new safety and environmental compliance training products.
Earlier in her career, she was director of environment and safety services at the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), providing technical guidance on scientific issues for the group’s corporate members, state officials and universities. She also worked with government entities to research and develop “best practices” in asphalt recycling and occupational health.
