Agg1 on Track to Be Huge Success

The co-located Agg1 Aggregates Forum & Expo and World of Asphalt Show & Conference are on target for success, according to the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA). The shows will be held March 13-15, 2012, at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C. The events are the industry gathering place for the aggregates, asphalt, pavement maintenance and traffic safety sectors.

NSSGA reports:

  • Advance registration numbers are tracking ahead of the last two shows.
  • Record-breaking exhibit space numbers have already been set for both shows.
  • Education tickets purchased to date are also trending upward.

"It’s still a tough business environment, but savvy professionals know they have to stay competitive; this is where they’ll find the latest product innovations and industry learning opportunities," stated Show Director Melissa Magestro.

More exhibitors and exhibit space means more equipment and products on display, with a good mix of new and returning companies. The shows feature a New Products and Technologies Preview and Industry Leaders Directory to help attendees more easily find the information to help them succeed.

“Attendees tell us that seeing new products is the number-one reason they attend, and they’ll be able to compare the latest technologies and talk with technical experts,” stated Magestro. “Our robust education focuses on industry best practices and increases the value quotient of the shows. This is where the industry gathers to network and gain the essential product and operational knowledge they need to stay ahead in these economic times.”

Education includes more than 90 industry-developed learning sessions with the People, Plants and Paving Training Program, the Asphalt Pavement Alliance’s Asphalt Pavement Conference and the AGG1 Academy. And, show attendees can also take part in a plant tour of Martin Marietta's Arrowood Quarry.

Presentations will focus on areas including environmental; safety and health; plant operations; drilling and blasting; dredging; communications and community relations; management and business development; automation, technology and operations; and sustainability. All levels of industry professionals, from operators to foremen to managers, will benefitwith information they can take back to the workplace.

More than 20 industry-related organizations are official supporters of World of Asphalt and AGG1, and both shows are industry-owned and operated. Show owner is the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association(NSSGA).
Show producer is the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).

"Industry partnerships and support boost the value of the shows as a one-stop destination to do business, connect with industry experts and share experiences with colleagues," Magestro stated.

A major topic of discussion among show participants is expected to be the political climate in a presidential election year and the need for job creation and infrastructure investment. "The shows’ owner associations and so many show participants are involved with industry advocacy efforts, including through industry-wide initiatives. On the show floor we’re pleased to have the I Make America campaign and The Road Connection program," Magestro noted.
