McLanahan Acquires Crusher Manufacturer

McLanahan Corp., Hollidaysburg, Pa., announced it has acquired crusher manufacturer Universal Engineering Corp., Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Universal was founded there in 1906.

Universal products complement McLanahan’s existing lines and add a new dimension to the dynamics of the company. For more than a century, McLanahan has been involved in in the manufacture of crushing equipment, with a focus on crushing soft minerals using roll crushers, feeder breakers and rotary breakers to process materials such as coal, salt and trona. Now, the Universal acquisition brings hard-rock crushing and apron, pan and wobbler feeders to the company’s line of products.

“It is our hope to grow the sales of Universal equipment around the world,” said George Sidney, McLanahan’s president and COO. “We are excited to have Universal’s high quality, and respected machines in our line-up, but we are more excited to have a professional, highly-trained group of people join our team.”
