Robert McClure, president of Robert A. McClure Inc. (RAM), Powell, Ohio, recently received the International Society of Explosives Engineers’ President’s Award, presented at the 37th Annual Conference on Explosives & Blasting Technique in San Diego. McClure joins a very select group of individuals who have been presented with this honor, which is given only to those who have unselfishly contributed to the society their time, talents and efforts in a voluntary capacity to advance the blasting industry.
A dedicated and active 31-year-member of the ISEE as well as a member of the Society of Mining Engineers (SME) and International Bomb Technicians (IBTA), McClure has worked in a variety of capacities to spur blasting innovation used for the explosives industry. “It is humbling to have the ISEE recognize my work with the President’s Award,” said McClure. “My goal has always been to make sure blasting professionals are given the most up-to-date information and innovative tools to safely and efficiently do their work.”
McClure began his career in the blasting industry more than 30 years ago as a Technical Marketing Representative for DuPont Explosives, where he was extensively involved with the evaluation, application and technical support of specialty products and services. He later led the charge for improving blasting accuracy, safety and efficiency through advancing the development of and field applications for digital blasting systems.
Currently as president of RAM, Inc., McClure provides training and technical and marketing support globally to the explosives industry. The international blasting engineering and consulting firm’s mission is to improve productivity and safety through blast optimization, advanced technical services and training. RAM, Inc. offers a range of services, including blast optimization, fragmentation improvement, minimizing ground vibration and air overpressure levels, wall control, ore dilution control, portable X-Ray services and face profiling services.
