Big Names Highlight NSSGA's Legislative & Policy Forum

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt welcomed the aggregates industry to Washington, D.C., during The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association's (NSSGA) Legislative & Policy Forum/Fall Board Meeting. Both remarked on the burden of overregulation facing businesses in the country.

Western Rock Products Celebrates 50 Years of Service

Western Rock Products is celebrating 50 years of construction service in southern and southwestern Utah and surrounding areas. In 1967, Western Rock Products got its start by supplying asphalt, paving and construction services in Cedar City, Utah. The company quickly grew and now in 2017, provides rock products, ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, paving and construction services along the I-15 corridor.

CRH to Acquire Ash Grove Cement

Ash Grove Cement Co. announced that it has entered into a definitive merger agreement with CRH plc, under which CRH plc will acquire Ash Grove in a transaction valuing Ash Grove at $3.5 billion on an enterprise value basis.

New Construction Starts in August Recede 2 Percent

At a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $711.6 billion, new construction starts in August slipped 2 percent from July, according to Dodge Data & Analytics. The decline followed July’s 6 percent increase, yet still kept total construction activity 5 percent above the relatively subdued pace reported during the second quarter.

Vulcan Subsidiary Breaks Ground on New Rail Line

Southwest Gulf Railroad Co. (SGRR), a subsidiary of Vulcan Materials, has officially broken ground on The Medina Line, a common carrier railroad located approximately 30 miles west of San Antonio.
