Dodge Momentum Index Inches Up in May

The Dodge Momentum Index achieved a small gain in May, moving 1.8 percent higher to 167.8 (2000=100) from the revised April reading of 164.9. The Momentum Index is a monthly measure of the first (or initial) report for nonresidential building projects in planning, which have been shown to lead construction spending for nonresidential buildings by a full year.

Staker Parson Wins Project of the Year from AGC of Utah

Staker Parson Materials & Construction, a CRH company, won the 10 + Highway Project of the Year from the Associated General Contractors of Utah for its Mountain View Corridor project. The Mountain View Corridor: 5400 South to 4100 South Design-to-Build project was a joint venture of Ralph L. Wadsworth and Ogden, Utah-based Staker Parson.

McLanahan's Sidney to Retire; Succession Plan Announced

George Sidney, president and COO of McLanahan Corp., has announced his plans to retire at the end of 2018. He will remain an active part of McLanahan’s board of directors and with industry trade associations following his retirement.

House Passes Water Resources Development Act

The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) welcomed the U.S. House of Representatives passage of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) by a bipartisan vote of 408-2.

Pioneer Landscape Acquires Midwest Materials

Pioneer Landscape Centers has acquired Midwest Materials in the company's second transaction of the year. The acquisition of Midwest Materials gives Pioneer a greater presence in the Colorado territory, expanding its reach to customers in a strategic location of the state, according to the company.
