Welcome to the latest incarnation of Rock Products, which throughout its more than 100 years of serving aggregates producers, has certainly seen its share of change. The magazine was recently sold to Mining Media International (MMI), based in Denver, a company that is solely focused on creating information products for the mining and construction-materials industries.
In addition to Rock Products, MMI also publishes Engineering and Mining Journal, Coal Age, Equipo Minero, The Asia Miner, Concrete Products and Cement Americas magazines, as well as industry directories, websites and more. MMI stages a number of trade shows as well, including Longwall USA, Haulage and Loading, and others.
What does this mean for you, the dedicated readers of Rock Products? It means that from a corporate perspective, we are not only here to serve you, but to deliver you the kind of first-class media products that you need to excel at your job. We are dedicated to providing you with the best print magazine in the industry, supported by the best digital media. This includes our website, blog, e-newsletter, social media sites and more.
MMI is not only focused like a laser beam on publishing high-quality media products, the company has staffed Rock Products with an all-star team of industry veterans, starting with myself. I first began covering the aggregates industry in 1988, and from 1996-2006 was the editor-in-chief of Pit & Quarry. The title of associate publisher was added to my job description along the way.
Our sales manager, Tom Judson, also with more than 20 years of industry experience, previously worked for Rock Products, as well as Pit & Quarry and Roads & Bridges magazines. In addition, we have on-staff Vic Matteucci, with more than 30 years of experience selling to the mining and extractive minerals industries; and Norm Rose, a construction-materials sales rep with more than 40 years of experience.
In short, we’re rock solid. We have more industry specific experience and media resources at our disposal than any other publishing company in the U.S.
The aggregates industry faces vast and complex challenges right now, from economic to regulatory, from political to technological. I look forward to working together with you to meet those challenges head on.
