SICK Sensor Monitors Speed, AccelerationSICK announced the launch of the SAM inductive sensor for speed and acceleration monitoring. Previously, a rotational speed had to be determined and adjusted using a basic speed monitor, which is a slower way to determine breakage since it takes time for a machine to decelerate to a determined switching output. The SAM’s acceleration monitoring functionality measures the change in speed, detecting a break almost immediately.
