Minnesota Quarry Permit Approved

The first rock quarry permit sought since Buffalo County, Minn., passed new mining regulations last spring has won unanimous backing by county board zoning supervisors, according to the Winona Daily Journal.

Water Withdrawal Permit Approved

State regulators say they have issued a water withdrawal permit for a mine that’s being proposed for Beaufort County, N.C. The Division of Water resources okayed the permit to Martin Marietta Materials, so it can remove up to 12 million gal. of groundwater a day for the proposed mine, according to WITN TV.

Canadian Quarry Seeks Expansion

Lafarge Canada has registered an extension project for an environmental assessment to expand its quarry in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, while ensuring a stable supply of aggregates for the southern Nova Scotia construction industry, said Alex Kenney, general manager for Atlantic Ready Mix/Lafarge Canada Inc.
