Canadian Quarry Invests Big

Inland aggregates invests in a new plant and dredge, helping maintain a decent local economy
Keeping the world economy in perspective, Winnipeg, Manitoba, is surprisingly OK. There are several projects set to consume large amounts of concrete in the area including a human rights museum, which is being funded by more than $98 million generated by a private-sector campaign. About $193 million has been committed to build an inland port around Winnipeg's James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.

ASTM Developing Test Methods For Pervious Concrete

The increasing use of and interest in pervious concrete in construction has led to a need for test methods for the material. Subcommittee C09.49 on Pervious Concrete, part of ASTM International Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates, is currently working on proposed test methods, including two that will cover hardened density and compressive strength

USGS: Aggregate Up In Q2

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that an estimated 331 million metric tons of crushed stone were produced and shipped for consumption in the United States in the second quarter, an increase of 6.4% compared with the second quarter of 2009
