New Kids in Town

Congress-150Dec. 16, 2014 – There are some new kids in town. It was announced that freshman GOP Sens. Shelley Moore Capito, W.Va., Mike Rounds, S.D., and Dan Sullivan, Alaska, will join the Environment and Public Works Committee, which has jurisdiction over the bulk of surface transportation reauthorization.

Funding Bill Stays Status Quo on Transportation

Congress-150Dec. 12, 2014 – The House of Representatives narrowly passed a bill to fund the government through September, and the Senate is expected to pass one within days.

Vulcan Heads North

Vulcan-150x65Dec. 5, 2014 – Morien Resources Corp., a Canadian mining exploration and development company that holds a 25 percent interest in the Donkin Coal Project in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, and non-operating royalty interests in two other projects, noted in a release concerning environmental assessment approvals from the federal and provincial governments that rights to its Black Point Aggregate Project, Nova Scotia, were sold to Vulcan Materials in Q2 2014, and that Vulcan is currently permitting the project for eventual production within the 2018 to 2020 period.
