Select Sands, Others Ramp Down Production

Select Sands Corp. announced that it has placed 26 employees at its Arkansas operations on temporary furlough until further notice. This necessary step results from the current industry-wide market disruption, which has impacted demand for Select Sands' Northern White frac sand. Shipments and limited production continue, while the company continues to pursue additional opportunities.

Source Energy’s Third Quarter Volumes Decrease

Source Energy Services Ltd. said that its sand sales volumes for the third quarter of 2018 were 726,000 metric tons. Approximately 94 percent of these sales were made through Source's Canadian distribution network and the majority utilized Source's last mile logistics services where Source delivered sand directly to customers' well sites. This brings Source's 2018 nine-month sales volumes to 2,182,000 metric tons.

Gen6 Proppants to Open Louisiana Plant

Gen6 Proppants, a frac sand solutions provider, revealed its plans to develop a new frac sand mine to serve the Haynesville Shale region, with the acquisition of approximately 1,000 acres in Red River Parish in northern Louisiana.

Vista to Develop Oklahoma Sand Mine

Vista Proppants and Logistics LLC announced the development of a 1- to 1.5-million-tpy frac sand mine northeast of Fay, Okla., to serve customers primarily operating in the Mid-Continent region’s SCOOP and STACK oil and gas plays.

Imerys, Wisconsin Proppants Win NIOSH Technology Awards

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Mining Program, in conjunction with the National Mining Association (NMA), the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA), and the Industrial Minerals Association–North America (IMA-NA), recognized the efforts of four organizations in their respective industry sectors for developing new tools and systems, or for using existing technology in new ways.
